Why conversations? Healthy informal conversations plays fundamental role in our human evolution. It facilitates ideas exchange and the construction of social relationships within communities. Informal conversations serve as tool to build social fabric within families and communities across cultures, civilizations and countries. Lately, informal conversations have become the life-blood of the new knowledge economy. Workers in the new world of work are engaged most of the time in informal conversations with co-workers, clients and supervisors. They use various communication mediums to conduct informal conversations. In most cases, they do their chats in cafeterias, hallways and meeting rooms. In addition, they use phones, mobiles, faxes and other new information technologies (website, wiki, e-mail...etc) to have informal talks with distant co-workers and clients. Through all conversational interactions, they try to learn and share new knowledge. Conversations are the new form of work in today's networked economy. Informal conversations allow teams of knowledge workers to create trust, suspend negative judgments, ask good questions, observe connections among ideas and respect diversity of perspectives. Informal conversation fosters collective creativity within teams and organizations. Conversational skills become a pre-requisite for any successful employment opportunity in the new economy. It facilitates collective learning and knowledge sharing among workers. Knowledge companies such as Google, Microsoft and Intel are providing incentives for workers who are engaged in productive conversations. They have established communities of practice to help workers to learn from each other. In the era of intangible assets, knowledge-intensive conversations are considered as a key source for value creation. More precisely, conversations of knowledge workers define boundaries and content for the organization. Networked organizations driven by new ideas reach for talents regardless of place and time. Growth drivers in any company in the new economy lie within the minds of its people. Therefore, interpersonal communications in the new workplace are more important than ever.
